The Story Behind It
Born from a Grandmother's
Quiet Wisdom
Guido Bonelli Jr. grew up with a grandmother who had a simple habit that most people would overlook. Whenever she gave him something (a letter, a photo, a small gift) she would date it. Not just the year. The full date. Sometimes a note about why.
He didn't understand it as a child. He understood it decades later, holding those pieces in his hands and feeling everything come back. That feeling never left him.
Guido went on to become an engineer. And eventually, he channeled that feeling into something extraordinary: a handcrafted grandfather clock called the GoonieBox, built to double as a time capsule. Apple wrote an entire article about it. When people saw it in his home for the first time, the reaction was always the same: "Can you make one of these for me?"
He couldn't. The GoonieBox was a one-of-a-kind obsession, not something you could replicate on demand. But that question stayed with him. For years.
Then Guido got engaged. And he wanted to bring his grandmother's habit, and the spirit of the GoonieBox, to his own wedding day. So he built something new. Something portable. Something anyone could use on the most important day of their life. That's where For Future Us began. Not as a product. As a promise.
